Commodores Logo WheelWe are a diverse group of model yacht sailors based in Stowe, Vermont with skill levels ranging from beginning modelers, novice sailors to experienced blue water sailors. Whether you are a sailor, or just interested in this fascinating and beautiful hobby, all are welcome.

We are located at The Commodore’s Inn on Route 100 in Stowe, VT. Our sailing site is a 3 1/2 acre pond behind the Inn.

Our club sails three AMYA sanctioned yacht classes. We’ve chosen the Soling One Meter as our club boat. Some members also sail the East Coast 12 Meter and the J boat , the largest sanctioned class.

We sail every Monday and Wednesday evening from 4:00 pm until about 5:30 pm. Our season runs from soon after ice-out (usually in late April) until first ice (usually the beginning of November!) After sailing we often socialize at MCs Penalty Box sports bar  located at the Commodore's Inn.

Our club is unique in that it is one of the only RC clubs directly associated with a facility like The Commodore’s Inn.

In the winter we meet occasionally to plan Club events, regattas, and to discuss building and maintenance of boats, or other sailing issues.

Feel free to join us on one of regular sailing days. If you have an RC model yacht of your own that is of another class, please feel free to come over and join us. If you don’t have a model yacht, the club has loaners or someone will share their transmitter with you for a trial sail around the pond.

Boats we Sail:

Soling One Meter:

The Soling One Meter is a one-design model yacht. This model is 39 inches long weighs in at 10 pounds and has 600 square inches of sail. The RC Soling class is modelled after the Olympic class boat sailed between 1972 - 2000. The Soling is also the most popular class boat in the AMYA. Our club has chosen the Soling as our Mon. and Wed. club racing boat.

EC12:

The EC12 is a one-design model yacht. A beautiful sailing model that is 59 inches long, weighs in at 24 pounds, and carries 1200 square inches of sail. It is modelled after the an early America's Cup 12 Meter Class yacht.

J Class:

The J Class is the largest, at about 8’ in length, sanctioned class in the AMYA. These boats are 1/16 scale models of the original J Class yachts that raced for the Americas Cup in the 1930’s and many of which were designed (20) but not realized until recently. Many of these J's are sailed in AMYA sanctioned races.
